Didn't know holly had a scent  :).

Used to gather blackberries as a child. My Gran made blackberry and apple dumpling. Yummy.

I too have lovely memories picking blackberries with my kiddos. And blackberry wine is so delicious! In WA we picked wild berries June through Sept. Then the rains came and it'd be time for mushrooms. We just got new bees this evening for our hive! We'd all starve without bees.

It's 2024.  People are still using Google?  2004 is calling and wants its search engine back.

I want the old Altavista back.  Best search engine ever.

I also remember DogPile and AskJeeves.  Then Google was good until it wasn't.

One of my fans once told me my MC was her "book boyfriend." Another fan said of the characters "broke her heart."

That's the kind of connection we hope readers make with our books.

Where there's an open storefront, there will always be grifts running.

My sister almost got caught in this, because, bless her heart, she wants to get rich quick. That's mainly who they're targeting, not people willing to do the hard work.

Whether the course is worth the money or they live up to their promises entirely is one discussion ... but they're mainly just saying "create a publishing company" and trying to automate/outsource as much of that work as possible. If people want to do that, go for it, but I expect most will simply lose more money, and it's by no means a "passive" income, even if it works.

It is commonly said that the subconscious mind takes everything literally.

I also heard that. If you watch a movie where a character has cancer or other life-threatening disease your subconscious will believe it to be true and your body will respond accordingly. I'm now circumspect about what I watch and read.  :icon_rolleyes:

I can't write about a character being cruel to animals, or other things that might upset me.

I have fallen for the MC in one of my books, and visualised who would play him if it was a movie.  :)

From the article:

If you look a few years back, however, you find a very different landscape. In the internet of the early 2010s, lots of people were excited about making money with trash ebooks and trash audiobooks, but they weren’t yet all trying to scam one another on top of their eventual readers.

:icon_rofl:

[Old]Newsflash: Yeah, they were.

Anyway, if you regard Wikipedia as a useful source, you can download Wikipedia and set it up on your own local server.  Then no one will know what you look up on there.
