I keep forgetting to post in this thread, but I have been blogging quite a bit of late.

For example, I have continued my loose series of posts about the golden age of science fiction and how it was more diverse and less monolithic than many people think.

I also wrote two posts about the ending of Game of Thrones.

Today, I posted "Lovers' Lane", this month's free short story on my blog. I got the idea from Kristine Kathryn Rusch who posts a new free short story on her blog every week, then she takes it down and posts the next one.

I don't have as many stories as Kristine Kathryn Rusch, so I post one a month. And yes, these free stories sell books. I've had people buy the story in question and sometimes an entire series.

After nearly five years of having a presence on Scribd and never seeing a single cent, I've finally made some money on that platform.

Scribd has been good to me in the past, but since they've changed their business model yet again, my sales there have dried up.

There have been several changes. For a while, Scribd kicked all romance titles out of its catalogue, because romance readers read too much. Then, they started allowing subscribers to borrow only certain books from the author's catalogue. And of course, you could never borrow a whole series at the same time.

My Scribd sales collapsed in late summer 2018, so I suspect they made another change then.

I remember when Romance got the boot, but I hadn't heard about those other things.

I compared the digital file of Alfred Bester's The Demolished Man to the print version.  I figured beforehand that they wouldn't be identical due to the book's weird typography, and I was right.
