Are you using Books2read?
« on: March 01, 2019, 11:54:15 AM »
Is this idea working for you and if so, are you adding links to your website, Facebook, etc?

I need to bring my books up to date, but don't want to spend the time if readers can't find it.

The main problem I've seen is people dont do the second click. In theory, its a good idea. In practice, the click through isn't there, because the click doesn't go direct to the book.
Genres: Space Opera/Fantasy/Cyberpunk, with elements of LitRPG and GameLit, with a touch of the Supernatural. Also Spiritual and Games.

Been using it for quite a while.  Works well for me but then I'm wide so it's better than listing every damn retailer and country myself.   If I were exclusive to  the Zon I'd still be using booklinker.

How do you promote it? I don't get how to bring readers to it.

Gosh, I never thought to look at the reader view. That's where the links are. I get it now, I think.

I like using it and adding ?store=amazon to the end of the link (I'm exclusive right now).

That way I can track the number of clicks, and it also sends customers to the right country store.

It skips that page where they have to set their preference and you can use it for most major stores (apple etc)

I use D2D for Apple and Google play so I put the Books2Read links in the files for those books.  I also use it for instafreebie.
My amazon books have amazon links, kobo books-kobo links, etc, etc and so forth.  All my books say follow me on books2read or bookbub and I have those links on every book.
It will tell you which websites are clicked through, but not which got sales.
I wish I had set up the links so I could tell where the readers were clicking from, but I didn't so that's a bit of a mess for me.
If you are updating your books anyway, it is only a small amount of extra work.

I use it but I just leave it alone once the books are on there.

When I first added my books, I kept looking for any sales & there were none for a couple of months which was very disappointing but people were saying it takes a while.

After quite some time, I started to get backdated info, (1 statement from July & 1 from August arriving on the same day with library reads & that's always a lovely unexpected bonus when it happens or even better when I get actual sales. (Not often but still nice).

I'm direct with Amazon, Googleplay & Streetlib but I use D2D for everyone else.

I only really push the Amazon books as that takes enough time, the others are there if anyone finds them.  :hehe

I did put the 'wide' info on my blog & FB author page but that was so long ago, I doubt if anyone scrolls that far down.

Looks like it's more useful than I thought. Now all I need to do is learn how to set it all up. Thanks everyone.

I have D2D put the Books2Read links in the back of every book.  It's all automated, and I love it, frankly.  No regrets.

I use it for the promos I run at Double-Cross Lit for the books that are not exclusive to Amazon. I also set the affiliate codes for those sites that I can. This way, I can see how many people clicked over from a particular book, and if they go to Apple, or Smashwords or Amazon to buy, I get a small commission.

Also, if they go to Amazon through the link, fall into a rabbit hole, and buy anything else after that first click through I get a piece of those sales as well. So if they are sent to my landing page by one of the authors, then click through the B2R link, and then click through to Amazon, then buy a blender while on Amazon, I get paid.
