Amazon Ads - How long from Approval to Impressions?
« on: October 12, 2021, 11:45:00 AM »
It's been a while since I launched a new campaign. I remember them getting started pretty quick in the past, but its been a couple days and I still see "no data".

Is this normal?

If not, does it just mean I need to up the bid, or is it more likely a technical problem I need to contact support about?

Is the ad delivering.

The no data simply means it hasn't shown it to anyone.

I havent had a an ad take more than 12 hours.

I believe so....

Status: "Delivering"
Default Bid: "0.35"
Suggested Bid: "0.06"

It just released the day I set up the ads, but has a couple sales.

Seems like a Catch-22. How can it sell if no one can be directed to the page?

Guess I'll have to set up some FB ads. bleh.

I'm afraid you're right about that.

AMS is wonky enough for me to have almost completely given up on them. I have noticed that even auto ads take a while to warm up. Drop your daily budget to a few dollars, then watch the ads that day, as soon as they start hitting, up the daily budget. Sometimes that will work. Alternatively, I've noticed when I pause my ads for a day or two then restart them, it seems to kick start them too.

It depends on the type of AD.  Display Campaigns take longer to "learn" and begin delivering impressing. Search Campaigns have a "learning curve" which I found to be shorter.

For high-traffic keywords, I typically see impressions and clicks within one hour.

For auto ads I'm assuming the criteria will have a mix even though I can't see it. But I'll do a manual one today to see if that's different. At minimum, I'll be able to troubleshoot easier. My existing auto ads get some impressions every day even at basement-level bids. This new one is acting weird.

The type is "Sponsored Product". I don't see options with the names you mention so I'm not sure what you're referring to.

When you select the goal of the campaign, the first screen, the different options have attributes. (Small gray print in the boxes.) Each performs a differently based on your following selections. I have spoken to support, a couple of times, they told me Display ADS can take up to a week (yes, five days!) to learn and begin issuing impressions.

The first screen I have is Choose Campaign Type. Nothing there about goals or display ads. The second is all the settings for Sponsored Product (which I chose) and again has nothing about these options. Regardless, thanks for chiming in.

It looks like the issue is the auto ad, or just something wonky about that specific auto ad. I did a manual one with 50 keywords off the top of my head and, like Anarchist said, it's already got impressions before I even have an email saying it's been approved by the review team.
