Sometimes it's nice to have the bad guys be bad. The good guys be good. A plot that's all about evil's comeuppance. And an entertaining cast of wholesome ass-kicking heroes.

That amply describes the last season "Entrapped" of Netflix's Scandi-noir series Trapped in which the fat slob Viking hero cop metes out lots of jolly comeuppance to vast evils but loses the girl and ends in prison for doing right.

I got through a couple of seasons of See, and yeah, the premise is a bit...whatever. I try to just accept stuff like that and get on with the story. I love SFF and always give it the benefit of the doubt. It was pretty good as I recall.

I started season 2 of Reacher...

So, caught up with "For All Mankind". Wow, that's some show. I'm now watching "See", with Jason Mamoa, because, well, Jason Mamoa. 'Nuff said. The first episode, I was yelling at the TV "really?" about every other second. Some kind of woo needed to set up the premise, but it's actually not that bad. And did I mention Jason Mamoa? Because he's in it. *swoon*

I'm also working through ReGenesis. The end of the first season was a shocker that wasn't really explained, but they are carrying on with saving the world every episode. I'm not really watching anything on regular TV, since the new seasons haven't started (or nothing I normally watch has) due to the strikes earlier in the year.

I love this thread for many reasons, the most important being my curiosity over what other authors/writers are reading.

I am 3/4 the way through Freida McFadden's The Housemaid. I chose it because I am currently writing my first book, and one of the genres is suspense.  :writethink: I am enjoying the book thus far and it has given me some insight to plotting.

How horrible. I hope the library doesn't negotiate with those hackers. Rebuild the card catalog one book at a time. When the digital world collapses, as it will, we will still have the real things. I'm mindful of all my kindle books--many of them classics. The ones I love, I try and get physical copies.

That's terrible. I've visited the library and it's a gem.

Boo on cyber criminals.

HOW TO LOSE A LIBRARY

Quote
On Halloween, 2023, the British Library suffered a massive cyberattack, which rendered its web presence nonexistent, its collections access disabled, and even its wifi fried. Moreover, the cyberattack also swept the personal data of the British Library’s humans—its users, but, far more extensively, its staff—into the hands of an outside party. During the final week of November, images of the stolen data were presented for auction on the dark web, for sale to whoever’s willing to pay 20 bitcoin, or about Ł600,000. By making the library’s digital infrastructure into a commodity (in an open, albeit dark, market), a “ransomware gang” calling itself Rhysida hopes to pressure the British Library to pay up first.

I should post some more cover art (and finish some more projects, for that matter!)

I gave up on Resident Alien after season one. Just can't seem to get back into it.

I got a free three month trial of Apple TV+, watched the Tom Hanks movie. Awesome, made me cry (I won't say when or for what, no spoilers). Now I'm into season two of For All Mankind. It's pretty good, slightly AU history of the world if the space race never ended.

I'm thinking of doing Foundation next. Been a long, long, long time since I read the books. My late brother was a huge fan, re-read them every couple of years.

After that, no idea. I'll wait to see if the new year brings more shows or movies of interest, but will decide by my birthday whether to pay for it or not.
