Now I'm afraid it's going to cost me more than I paid for it to get it fixed.

I looked online for a replacement keyboard but nobody has one for my model. Might as well junk the darned thing.

Can't it use a USB keyboard?

Or maybe there's gunk beneath the keyboard keys that need cleaning out?

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but grandson lost the thingie that goes in the port. The key doesn't pop out, but I've tried using a keyboard vacuum and blowing it out. No dice.

So, I bought a keyboard to go with my 10" tablet for $35. Apparently, I can download the MS store from Amazon and since I have the Office subscription service, I should be able to install it on the tablet. Fingers crossed.

I usually don't write in the morning but the muse was tapping at my door. Add 1,147 words to the WiP for a total just shy of 20K. Up to 84 pages.

Hope my muse sticks around for another session tonight. I think the new character is responsible for the need to get down new wordage.

Unfortunately, the space key sticks and sometimes it takes twenty or thirty seconds for words to show up on the screen.

My space bar was sticking and I figured out it was the little metal hinge under the key. It needed to be bent just a little to fix it. Maybe the pounding your grandson did on the keyboard while gaming could have done something similar to yours?

I don't have a clue what's taking it so long to get words to show up on the screen though, if it's related to the sticking space bar. :)

In my chat with the HP computer, she had me try a couple of things. Since I couldn't get to the set-up menu, it nicely told me it was a hardware problem and I needed to replace it. Since I can't even buy the keyboard anywhere, I might try to pop up the space bar and see what happens. Can't be any worse.  It just seemed like it didn't want to pop.

When I took mine off, I thought I was about to break it. But like you, I couldn't live with the sticking...  Good luck! I hope you figure it out. :D

not a lot of words considering I'd spent 9 hours on the thing today, but it was tough sledding creatively, and I still have a ways to go

I usually read what I wrote last before I continue on. Oh, my. What a mess. Lots of spell-os, incomplete sentences, missing words. I ran spell check and then went over it line by line and fixed everything, I hope. Ten pages worth. And I hope the ten pages plus what I added in are lots better than they were.

It just struck home, Lorri. I'm planning four books in this series, but characters keep popping up and telling me they want their own book. Noooooo!!!! I must be strong!!!

Got in a bit more of the mystery in tonight's 1,194 words. Now I have to go back and edit all those words.

I took a break for a while after finishing my last book. Needed a rest. Kudos to all of you who keep going every single day. I see a lot of progress happened while I was gone.

Now I'm packing for a two-week vacation but I've also started a new book and it won't let me go. Things are always so exciting in the beginning, and this is a new series, too. I don't know how much time I will have to continue working on it this month because of the trip but I plan on sitting down in November and doing a good Nano session with this. Anyway, 1532 words today.

Spent 5.5 hours cutting, pasting, re-arranging my outline in a Word doc, but...
no new words added to the thing, so really, I'm not qualified to post in this thread at all today  :hehe

And, even with all the time I put in... I feel as though I've been un-productive  :shrug

I deleted and rewrote the beginning of a story last night, and that was about 600ish words. Most of them don't count because they just replace words I took out.

So I wrote 56 yesterday.

I wrote a 652 word scene that I'm not sure I'm going to keep. I know it was needed to show the MCs bouncing back from a difficult situation. I'm just not sure the readers will see it that way. Oh, well. I'm sure my editor will tell me if it's garbage or not.

First I wrote 65 words that did what I wanted them to do but not in the right way. So I rewrote it as dialogue instead of exposition and I was much happier. Ended up 968 words richer.

That brings me to 128 pages and just over 30K words.
