AMS Oddities - Anyone Else?
« on: October 14, 2018, 12:02:57 PM »
In the last twenty-four hours, my total AMS clicks have gone DOWN by 3872 and total spend is DOWN $774.35. Anyone else experience any similar weirdness in their stats?

Yesterday my impressions and clicks went through the roof, maxing out my daily budget on two ads for the first time in a couple of months -- and today one of them is barely moving.

It's totally crazy.

Since October 10th, one ad of mine, running for the past two years since October 2016, "lost" over 6 million impressions, nearly 3200 clicks, and about $1600. One. Ad.

The AMS/AA dashboard is utterly worthless at the moment. All the data are unreliable. I have no idea if I am making or losing money on any ads.

We'll just have to wait it out, since Zon will tell us whatever it may, in its own sweet time.

My billing history’s disappeared on my .com account, but still there on my .co.uk account. Numbers all over the place though - no idea if I’m making anything or not. Had a poor day sales wise yesterday - UK ad is delivering but I don’t know if the US one is or not. Can’t be bothered to try to work it out as it’s Sunday morning!

Assuming they credit the over-billing back to our accounts, my AMS bill is paid for the year.

Yes. I lost some stats. All the data on one of my paused ads is gone. It was there on Friday, because I've been setting up some new ads, so I've been on the dashboard quite a bit over the last few days. Last night I went to do some comparisons and realized some of my info had disappeared.  :rant

Fortunately, I download my data regularly.

Several of my old ads lost their data completely today, and some of the others lost impressions, clicks and sales.

I had normal day-to-day stats (I check every day in the evening). All of the reductions in spend and clicks are holding at the adjusted reduced levels, which I hope means a credit is forthcoming.

It's probably a good time to hold back on heavy AMS promotions until these reports stop coming in.

AMS has now reversed all of their earlier reductions in clicks and total spend.

I noticed, just about a half hour ago. The numbers appear to be restored.

I've noticed weird stuff going on with KDP too. Now, my AMS ads are just not like they used to be either. Definitely, algos have been updated and changed. And I know that they don't want us to know the data, because then we'll get the system working for us instead of money into their pockets.

All of this ruckus and yoyo data has made me go wide. The Zon only serves the Zon. Being exclusive is just not viable for an Indie anymore unless you are just starting out.  :HB

I'm exclusive and I do okay.

So am I, for the moment, and have no complaints. I know AMS works, but as to what degree I don't know. I cut the bulk of my ads several weeks ago to try to find out. One of my titles slipped pretty drastically in rankings (admittedly, my least favorite book), so I'm assuming it was held up only by AMS. The other books haven't slipped much, so I'm concluding AMS wasn't really necessary for them.
