I'm predicting a good first season (lots of source material and great effects) and then...not so much (reimagining and updating for a modern audience).

I think the opposite is more likely: a rocky first season followed by much-improved second and third seasons as the show finds its groove.  Like the original B5, in other words.

The answer probably depends upon what level of involvement The CW takes.

I haven't seen any of the Hobbit movies, nor will I.  As soon as I heard it was going to be a trilogy, I knew it was going to wildly diverge from the book.  The internet confirmed my suspicions.

Wise decision. It's mind-boggling that the same people who made so many smart decisions with LotR made so many awful ones with these.

So, science isn't real or engineering isn't real or engineering with scientific precision isn't real?  :icon_think:

Watched this last night...

A fantastic slow-burn mystery. Taylor Sheridan is a talented storyteller. And Renner and Olsen are great, as usual. I've now watched it twice. I'll surely watch it again at some point.

Currently on Netflix.

After a(nother) pandemic summer suffering the mystery of AMS ads and trying all advice offered here, I decided on a radical new approach - go small, go slow and start over.  Result:  my sales and reads collapsed to 1/3 of what they had been.  But I'm turning a profit after AMS costs.  I'll let small and slow ride a bit more to see if the profit holds.  Then inject money a little at a time.  In 1,000 yrs I should be rich.  Or is that another triumph of hope over experience?

Two weeks after I ran the ad, things are looking up. The follow was next to nothing for a week, but last week sales picked up. I'm not sure at this point if I can contribute the sales to the ad, or if it was something else I did, or was reporting that far behind.

I'm certain sites like Bookbub and Freeboksy have associate accounts and track follow though sales, but if they do, we're not privy to that information. Wouldn't we love to know?
