Advertising in the UK

I can't get into UK AMS/AA.  They have told me they don't take authors, only publishers.

I have a book I'd like to advertise in the UK, but full price, so I don't think BookBub ads are the way to go.  Any other ideas?

I'm advertising two full-price first-in-series books in the UK at the moment, using Facebook ads.  Results are paying for themselves, even exclusing sell-through.

Bookbub ads only really worked for me on freebies.

They do take authors - I’ve been using them for almost a year now (am UK based). There’s instructions on various FaceBook groups for how to get in, but it does look like it’s more difficult if you’re not based in the UK.

I love running FB ads in the UK. ROI is usually higher than US ads, though the ceiling is lower. My ads get fatigued after three to six months and need to rest for another three to six before I can start seeing good ROI again.

I focus more on new releases in the UK, though backlist ads can do well also. They just need a shorter time span IME.

Thanks you guys.  They really don't want me.  I tried the round about way and got denied as well.  What's really amusing, sort of, is even though I've stopped asking, every week or so I get another email, the one where you can click on the non existent author icon to be notified when they do take authors.  I guess they just want to make sure I'm not even thinking about it, or something. 

Just bums me out cause I had some good momentum in the UK going from my International bookbub that I wanted to capitalize on.  I'm not on Facebook, so that one's on me.

So, at the risk of asking silly questions...have you opened an Advantage UK account? If so, did you provide AMS UK with your Advantage UK vendor code?

Edit - just noticed your opening post indicated you had issues opening AA UK. Sorry for the oversight. Have you tried Bookbub CPC targeting UK only? I have a campaign targeting UK only running now that's doing very well. It's worth a test.

Thanks.  I've never had much luck advertising full price books on bookbub ads so I'm a little scared to go that route again.
I love how you can target them for country and platform though.

Understood. I haven't had the same experience. I'm running ads on both AMS UK and BB CPC UK for the same book at full price ($4.99). Sales convert at 10.1% of clicks on AMS, and 9.3% for BB CPC, and 90% of my UK sales are coming from the BB CPC ad. When I add in KU reads on top of that, the BB CPC is even more effective.

Oh that's nice.  I am not that sophisticated.  Standard BB ads for me, which probably has something (a lot) to do with my lack luster results there.
