facebook survey results

I don't know if this is old stuff but it was new for me. This link goes to the results of a Facebook survey for authors. https://writingforaliving.us/results-facebook-advertising-survey-authors/
I wonder what the results of such a survey would be if they only included people who took a facebook course from someone like Mark Dawson. Would the results still be the same? It is pretty damning stuff.

"I’ve never been able to make Facebook advertising work for myself or my clients. I’m an author and a book marketing consultant. I’ve spent thousands of dollars in the past couple of years trying to make Facebook advertising work."

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophesy.

You ask a bunch of random people with no marketing experience whether or not they failed at marketing, and then pretend to be shocked when they tell you it failed.

This is a clickbait article designed to drive traffic to the site to sell the blogger's book. My bad. I clicked the stupid link.

In all seriousness, unless you actually study marketing most people will fail at marketing. Period. Full stop. Marketing is a unique skill set. Most people are just using the "throw enough crap against the wall and hope something sticks" approach, because most people don't really understand marketing concepts at all.

Many authors would be better served spending a little money on a community college continuing education course on Marketing Concepts than a thousand "how to sell" guides available on the internet.

Sorry. I didn't get that it was a click bait article. I ignored all the other stuff there and just focused on the article.

I agree with bardsandsages. You can make FB ads work if you know how to target properly, how to pick images, how to write ad copy, how to connect your ad copy to your blurb on the Amazon product page, and how to make a call to action... and all of the other things that go into the sales process/funnel. It takes work and testing, but it can be done.
