Received my second BB rejection today. Does that mean I can apply to join the club? Is there a minimum number of rejections to apply for club membership?

Cheers,

One step closer, but I didn't quite get there. I got it to put page number 2 on the page I wanted to start with but that is the only page that got numbered. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Double click on the page number (2), it will put you in the footer. Copy-and-Paste the 2 to the same spot (in the footer) on page three. All the numbers should follow.

IF NOT, you need to check/uncheck the "Same as Previous" section option.

Cheers,
R.C.

I have yet to find free voice-to-text software that does a reasonable job. One I tried (i think it's free with Windows 10) worked only with one line of text. I think it's for speaking commands. I want to dictate whole chapters.
Another one I tried wouldn't do common punctuation beyond period and comma. Dictating accurate punctuation takes getting used to, I'm told.

I tried reading one of my mother's travel diaries via a microphone into the computer's free software. The computer did not recognize some of the words. I had to correct the Word doc at great length. No time or trouble savings at all. If you regularly dictate and have better software (Dragon?), I suppose you'll get better results.

I ordered a book scanner from Amazon. Should be here next week.

I asked if it worked with 50 year old typewriter pages, and someone replied they'd been using it for scanning much older documents.

Don't know if the OCR will work, but I figure the first step is getting the whole thing in digital. Even as a pdf of the original typewriter version is better than nothing.

Here's an off-the-wall thought. Verbally read the manuscript to a voice-to-text app or program. My iPhone does a good job of transcribing incoming phone messages. Dragon probably does it better. They say it's more accurate than OCR.  I've been looking into that ever since a small stroke in 2019 slowed down my typing a lot.

That's definitely something worth considering if the OCR on the new scanner doesn't work. I hadn't even considered that.

I ended up having her call. I figured they would work faster for a customer than an author. (usually they run me around in circles and dont help until i give up).

Took a while. About an hour later it downloaded.

I'm worried about all the people that tried to download it and it didn't work. Did i lose them as readers? Will they try again? That would hurt to lose all those readers.

Thanks all!

What are Amazon doing now? [Public] / Re: Algorithm change in April?

Something is up... The last two weeks of April were good for me. (It's all relative. )

No change to the AMS ADs and May is a starting out a disaster.  Daily impressions this week are 1/3 of last week's numbers.  Accordingly, clicks and sales are down.

Cheers,
R.C.
