This may be a futile exercise. It often seems futile with Amazon, where there's more to see and evaluate, but I have the same question as others asked in another thread, but re: GP, to with: what's changed?
Without any particular promos or changes in the way I do business, my (four-figure) income from GP ebooks more than doubled within the space of two months, and has held steady for the past two months. In other words, if my income (numbers are examples only) I made $3000 in June, in July I made $4500 and then August and September I made $6000. That's a large difference, and with the volume of books I sell, it's not just a blip from one book club buying my books all of a sudden.
Has Google done anything to promote GP books better? Is there any way to see if GP is doing any sort of in-house promos?
Or is it just another one of those mysterious random happenings that there's simply not enough visibility and transparency to explain?

I've just received a royalty payment from GP for £1.14, so I'm not really in a position to comment with any authority!

I don't know, and would be curious to know too. Just started going wide with a book series and Google Play is really the top performer so far. Having said that, still only pushing 5 copies a day of the whole series, so nothing to crow about. But it's FAR beating Kobo, Apple, and B&N combined, so that's something.

I'm getting more sales as well.
Perhaps readers are beginning to leave Amazon and move to Google Play. Amazon making the site harder to navigate might affect where people buy.
How is GP compared to Amazon for the shopping experience? I've never bought there since I don't read on my phone.

I've had a smaller boost (20% compared to last month) but this month isn't on track to hold steady (yet)

I wish I was seeing anything in GP! That's my worst performer for whatever reason. I get more from Kobo than GP.
I was told I should be sure and put more keywords in my blurbs, but I just feel like that's weird looking.

This helped my perma-free, I reckon - but thus far hasn't made a huge impact re: follow-through sales, but I'm doing a bit of testing on this to see (slow going as I'm juggling a few things at the moment)

No change here. GP is always my worst performer. That hasn't changed of late.

GP used to be my biggest retailer, but it's been kind of awful lately.
