The writing bug bit me this morning and I wrote 1,227 words for a total of 7,321 and 30 pages.

ETA: Just added another twenty words. The scene just hadn't ended right and those words rounded it off nicely.

Still working on the second draft.  Word count is around 94k, though like I said before, that's not my concern at the moment so much as fixing inconsistencies and whatnot.

The good news is that I've sorted out what I want to do with the soldiers' bio-hoods.  That was bugging me.  I still need to come up with some place names to replace the placeholder names I'm currently using, but there's only a few of them, so that shouldn't be too hard.

There are a couple of places in the book that make me a little teary-eyed every time I go over them, and that's a good sign.  It means I'm hitting the emotional mark.  Hopefully the readers will feel the same.

Just got book one back from the copy editor. New rule, at least for me, no comma between a name and Jr or Sr.

I got about 1/3 of the way through plugging in the changes. I'll be ready to put it up for pre-order tomorrow. Really, I will. Commas are killing me.

I'm almost done with this second draft.  Word count is over 98k, but as I've said before, word count isn't a good indicator for progress on the second draft.  This draft is about fixing things and smoothing it all out.  Daily word counts are only a goal during the first draft.

I'm hoping to start the third draft either tonight or tomorrow.  I'm hoping to publish in January or February.  I'm not a fast writer, and I'm an even slower reviser.  But I'm chugging along.

Well, I keep forgetting to post here daily but I have finally beat my own record for daily fiction writing. I'm now at 126 consecutive days of writing fiction. :D

Oh, and I decided to raise the bar a few days ago, once I'd broken my own record. From now on, I have to write at least 50 words or it doesn't count. If I delete a bunch and end with a negative, I have to be able to prove to myself that I did write at least 50 words (it happens, when I inevitably realize the story has stalled and I need to go back and make another run at it). I have a notes column in my spreadsheet and I'll note the proof there for myself.

:D
Don't rush me.

dropping in for first time to say 3240 words today.

I just wrote a different novel draft in 15 days in the month before, so it's flowing, and I'm grateful it is. I averaged 1500 words per hour of writing with that, which is better than I typically get. I prefer to write 3000 new words per day and a draft in under a month. That seems to be my sweet spot. (And no, I can't do that month after month. Two months in a row is pushing it!)

Wish I'd been more disciplined. I'm at a good part in the story and you'd think it'd be easy writing because of my high interest level in it, but nah. It's just as much of a pain to write as anything else is. Some days I really wonder what the heck it is that keeps me coming back to writing every day.
