Hi MissingAlaska,
Thanks so much for contacting me.
Writing about ghosts has been fascinating for me. Truly, one day I was looking through my back list of books and realized how many have a ghost between the pages. I didn't consciously think about it before then. I was a little surprised. The ghosts don't usually play a major role (never a major character) and not every character in my books believes in ghosts. Most didn't to begin with until they were forced to by a series of events from the ghost that forced them to acknowledge their presence. A character from A Ghost To Die For admittedly could and did commune with the dead, and thus, believed in their presence among us.
I certainly don't expect every reader that picks up one of my books to pre-believe in spirits. Many don't think they walk among us, many do. That's a personal belief, many times based on personal experience with a spirit.
I happened to see spirits as a child, beginning at the age of 3. My mother will sttest to that and remembers it well. I insisted they were in my bedroom (a very old house) and she insisted they weren't. She couldn't see them, which made me very frustrated. As a child, I couldn't understand why she couldn't see what I saw. They were as clear as my hand in front of me. I still remember them, but no longer see them. Somehow, my conscious mind turned off the ability to see spirits from another world. Only through the eyes of an innocent, unknowing child, I guess.
Thanks again. Ghosts, for me, are a fascinating topic, but then I gravitate toward the paranormal often in my romance books.
Nice meeting you. Hope we can chat again soon.
