AMS ads are now showing up on Goodreads

This is new. I just saw 4+ star books being advertised via sponsored ads on Goodreads. Is this a new option with AMS? Thing is, it appears to only be the top 6 books so, I'm guessing, this would be the highest bid books.

I'm sure this is a way for Amazon to make people pay more for ads. The more places they show them, the more they suppress ads so people have to bid more. Amazon never does something unless it brings them more money. They've sucked up all the space on Amazon pages and they're so crowded with ads that it's terrible to browse there now. So Amazon said, "Hey, how can we squeeze even more money from these authors? Oh, yeah! Let's put the ads on Goodreads and make it where they'll have to bid even more to be seen.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a great idea, especially if they're only picking the top 6 on the carousel. But, to your point, the top of the carousel are the highest money making ads. I once tried Goodreads ads and never sold a book. So... I have a feeling this experiment won't work out well. I don't think the site works well for direct buys. But 

For those of you who use AMS (I gave up a long time ago) I'm curious. Is there a new feature allowing direct ads with Goodreads? Or is it just transferred over?

Either way, I'm not under the impression that Goodreads is a good place to sell books. You'd think it would be, given that it brings together a lot of readers. But Goodreads ads were the worst money I ever spent. Goodreads giveaways used to be a good review source before Amazon messed it up.

The carousel seems to be literally copied from Amazon and placed on Goodreads (I'm obsessed enough to recognize the same books being advertised under my books). It think it's just the "4 star and above" carousel which I always assumed was taken from AMS ads.

I don't see the point.

I once tried a $50 Goodreads ad, and 3 months later, it hadn't yet used half of that $50.

All putting AMS on Goodreads will do is completely bugger up the ROI calculations.
