i just made my boy stop doing whatever it is that boys do on a Friday night and made him watch a dumb Jack Black movie with me.

New Jack Black movie out this weekend that looks like fun.

I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.

Same name, same avatar to which I have no commercial rights, since it's a Pre-Raphaelite painting of Medea.

Even when a contract is clearly unenforceable, I won't sign. Especially when it is inapt and a rights grab, I won't sign. I've walked away with zero regrets from several instances of contracts that were rights grabs, or loyalty oaths, or attempted to control my future actions.

In this situation I have little to lose, since I don't use my real name here and I sign up to websites using an email address that does not connect to my main one. But having little to lose isn't the point.

The emojis are a little...busy.
Lily, you made it. I wasn't sure that you wouldn't just walk away- with like explosions in the background, and you don't even flinch.

I have to respond to this. That person is the person I am in my head.
me too, but then I'd turn to the camera and ruin it with my defective sense of humor.

Good times. Memory building times. I confess, I've never seen a Jack Black movie. (I think.)

Really? You've never seen The Jackal with Bruce Willis and Richard Gere? How about last year's Jumanji? Okay, maybe Goosebumps from a handful of years ago?

I'd never heard of the guy until I saw King Kong a few years ago. (The awesome Peter Jackson re-re-re-remake, not the more recent and thoroughly crap re-re-re-re-re-make.)

Wait, that was Jack Black in The Jackal. Wow. I just thought of him as Mouse from Beauty and the Beast (the original TV series). But maybe that wasn't him.

I plan to see Jumanji, but I've never actually seen him in a movie he starred in, either.

hes a friend of a friend of a friend. Been to a few things, but I'm sure he doesn't know/remember me. I'm like an asteroid that falls into their gravity well for a brief time, then I'm back out into space. I know a lot of stars, but some of them are just black holes.

Well, he didn't headline in The Jackal, but he gave an Oscar-worthy performance.

I am kind of a JB fan. I am probably the only person that saw and loved The Big Year. Of course, I was already a birder so there's that.

Was a rough day not being able to access the writersanctum this afternoon/evening. I danced    like a banana when I was able to log back in.

No kidding.  Felt like a month.  Was it a month?  It may have been.  I think I'm in a time warp.  And no, Dr. Furter, I'd rather not do the time warp again.

This was a really cool forum back in the day.  (I think that day was Tuesday.)  But now, with all this riff-raff showing up, it's just not the same.
[/quote]

I'm glad I got in before then too.
Actually, no, I don't mind being associated with the riff-raff, we is all good peeps here & non-good peeps will be soon gone :)

Yesterday, I was on page one of the member list.

Now, I've dropped to page three.

This forum is worse than Amazon.

I am the riff-raff.  I'm one of those self-loathing riff-raff, uh, persons.  I just need a writer's sanctum.  A writer's sanctuary.  Sanctuary!  Why was I not made of stone like thee?

Okay, I'm better now.

Welcome to all the new folks that came in while I was stranded on the outside and banging my fist on the door all day yesterday. So many familiar names and avatars...and a few mysterious ones too who have gone anon. So exciting to see the place filling up with awesomeness.

Also, Dan...you may have been page one, but I signed up an entire twenty minutes before you. The Riff-Raff invaded early! Muah-wa-ha!

Jumanji! Just watched it a week or so ago. I didn't want to because I loved the original Robin Williams  :icon_cry: movie. But GD had seen it several times in the theaters and she convinced me. I'm glad it was so different. And Jack Black was so cool. I'll have to check out some of his other movies.

I'm here, too. I've added formerly to my user name. However, I've never been anonymous since my real name is on the front of my books. I have a busy week and my tech skills are negligible so I won't be adding my avatar or books until I have time to figure it out. I'm still sad about what happened over there but feeling much better after seeing so many familiar names here.

Hey, great to be here! Mostly lurked on the other board under the same name. Recently changed that name to something anonymous. The URL to change my profile picture and signature is gone but when it's back I'll be using a different avatar (a more recent picture).

Hi, uber-lurker from the other board.  I'm sad about the VS-instigated armageddon but excited to see what's going on here with this exodus, feels like an important moment, a chance to reboot the community.

Big thanks to Tim and all those who have helped out.

I'm here, but lost my signature and avatar. I'll have to recreate them at some point.

Hey you go. Depending on how you look at it, Google cache is either a good thing or a scary thing!   :icon_eek:

That's the code for your KBs sig. For some reason Google doesn't have your avatar showing in cache as well, so I can't help you with that. Just make sure to make whatever changes need to be made for it to work here, and that there's nothing you should remove from it, i.e. anything VS may have added. It's from a July 2nd cache, so maybe not. I can't remember the date mayhem ensued.

For anyone else looking for a pre-VS version of your sig, check Google cache.

Like many here, I was a daily lurker on The Other Board but hardly ever posted. I did, however, learn SO much and I will forever be grateful to so many of you for that. Given that this is an entirely new forum, it seems like a good time to jump in and be more involved.

Also, I’m super stoked that, for the first time ever, I was able to claim just my first name as a username

Hi, I am another Aussie, living in Melbourne. I write fantasy and have written poetry in the past. I have my first novel in what I would like to think is the final stages prior to publication. I also lurked on the other forum, and was about to post when everything went pear-shaped. I will try to be more active here, although it's debatable what I can add, given the experience of others.

Griffin here. Similar story to a lot of folks popping up. Longtime lurker over at Kboards. I regret not participating now the party's over. But, thanks to Timothy, the community I've grown to anonymously love in 60 minutes a day or less on my lunch break and sometimes after work is getting a second wind. I'm happy to see so many familiar names in the Sanctum. Still hoping for a few more. Patty? Parker? X? Amanda?  :grouphug:

Anyway... I know this will sound stalkerish, but I'm going to say it anyway: You don't know me, but I know a lot of you, and I'm going to push past my social anxiety this time and get in on the action. Glad to be here with everyone.

Hello everyone!

I too was a lurker on Kboards and I'm looking forward to participating here. I like the new TOS and the forum setup, and it's nice to see all the enthusiasm and goodwill for this new beginning.
