I'm posting this just to remind you to setup Two-Step Verification to add an extra layer of security to your accounts. Even if a hacker gets your username and password, not having your phone to receive the code to verify a device, would stop access into your accounts.

All of these websites have it (I'm posting links from their help pages showing how to set it up, and explaining more about how it works):

... and here is what you can do to prevent someone from hacking your two factor authentication by doing a sim swap

2-factor is such an inconvenience, and I especially like it when I'm on my iPhone, and 2-factor wants to send me a text to that very phone...

I hate it - I almost never have my phone with me/charged up so it effectively stops me accessing my own accounts.
We had a really silly experience with it in a community organisation I am involved with, whereby one of the people who had access to a communal mailbox set up 2 step verification using a phone kept in the organisation's headquarters, and then the other 2 or so people who were accustomed to accessing it from home were shut out of it.

The main reason I posted this thread was because two months ago, someone tried to log in into my KDP account, and the only thing that prevented full access to my account was that I had Two-Step Verification since 2014. I know of the attempt because I received a code that I didn't require. At the time, I thought that it was an error, and I didn't appreciate being awoken in the middle of the night by the text sound.

Now, we all know that Amazon had a data breach, and our information is out there.

It's a personal choice like everything else in life. I'm just sharing it in case somebody didn't know about it, and could benefit from it.

It is a good idea to ensure your accounts are secure. Hackers are gonna hack.

Still, this was interesting: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/19/azure_down/
