Formatter's Forge [Public] / Re: Vellum upgrade and sale

I love my Vellum. Unfortunately, my very aged Mac won't run the upgrade or I would definitely buy it.
I tried it even though it was a little risky with my planned upcoming book launch. It had all my prior defaults.

It's a free upgrade if you already have it. Update it if you can. It gives some nice extra features.

IngramSpark / Re: No Nano code for Ingram this year?
« Last post by Eric Thomson on December 01, 2021, 09:46:51 AM »
IS has severely cracked down on freebie codes this year. I mean hard, due to abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if there was no longer any for NANO. Besides, the code allocated to various partner organizations changes each month and has a hard limit. I'm an ALLi member and get my codes through it, and we can only use the monthly code for up to five times, either new upload or revision. After that, either pay or wait for the 1st of the next month.

IngramSpark / No Nano code for Ingram this year?
« Last post by RPatton on December 01, 2021, 09:42:35 AM »
I was hoping for an Ingram coupon code this year and haven't found one. Am I just missing it? Or did Ingram just not offer a coupon code this year?

... Yet, we must persist or our books go right down the tubes. What else have you tried?...

Yes, persistence is a virtue and I need to cultivate a virtue.

Tired: Everything.

FB - Recent changes by "meta" has killed the video ADs that were getting clicks.  Now: Nada.
'Zon ADs - Pointless. I am convinced the algo is bias to higher bids for higher priced product.
Google ADs - Getting better. Highly targeted campaigns. One driving to Google Books has given me my first sales there.
Other - Several options have resulted in impressions and traffic to my sight, sales are iffy.

Formatter's Forge [Public] / Vellum upgrade and sale
« Last post by fferyllt on December 01, 2021, 07:26:38 AM »
Just got this from Vellum if anyone is interested:

"Itís here! Vellum 3.0 is out now with exciting new options for styling your books.
And to celebrate this release, all packages are now 30% off!
Vellum Press   $249.99   $174.99
Vellum Ebooks   $199.99   $139.99"

The sale ends on December 6. I'm just about to purchase Vellum -- the upgrade has a lot of new features and a nice Saved Styles function -- so a $75 discount on the print and ebook version looks like an early holiday present in this sea of book launch expenses.
If you already have Vellum, the upgrade is free.

Sorry it didn't work out for either of us. Yet, we must persist or our books go right down the tubes. What else have you tried? Would you go for the same setup (clicks) such as Goodreads offers, or are you looking for something different. It's maddening, isn't it?

I placed an ad on bargain Booksy historical for McShane's Bride, to run the 7th at $2.99. I'm not expecting much. At least the cost not as hard to swallow. They have a much lower price for "historical fiction" which my book would fit into nicely, but the reserved dates are way out there. I suspect everyone with a historical romance goes for that genre instead of the actual historical romance category.

Captains Log - Final Entry.

November: Limited authors, some ADs with no authors, selective categories, bold ADs, ADs retained, some replaced.

Impressions: 389,946
Clicks: 102 - Clicks came from across the board: 'Zon, Apple, B&N, Roko, Google.
Sales: Not enough to continue.

Next steps: Find eyes somewhere else...

I love novella and novelette sized stories. And yet... every time I write a story I end up writing a damn novel. :D

(I do write some shorter fiction, but not nearly as much as I wish, not for lack of trying.)

This month's word count has been much better than the entire earlier part of the year by orders of magnitude. I've logged something every day since the 19th and wrote something most days since the 1st.

I've decided I'm going to write every day for a while. I think I'll try to do it for all of 2022, even if I'm doing other things. A ten or fifteen minute sprint should be plenty to make sure I don't fail.

I'm going to try to work my way up to a small quota for the daily writing, but I'll start with 50, since that's the title of this thread. :-)
