Today I learned: Writing non-fiction and being a plotter-pantser does not mix.

Fiction leaks out of my head where facts are required. It is a good thing I don't have a deadline.

I wonder what I will learn tomorrow...

Cheers,

Hah! So true. Most of my published work is nonfiction and I tell you outlining everything got me in the habit of doing it for fiction as well, only I could be perfectly happy outlining all kinds of stories and not actually writing them so relearning how to just write the damn book. Learning something new every day too.

I'm about half and half fiction/nonfiction. I'm a pantser with fiction and an outliner with non-fiction. A hybrid. Oddly, I wrote my (non-fiction) book on being a pantser (the Zen title in my signature) from a carefully-defined outline. That's how I wrote all the computer programming titles. It's the only way I knew to make sure I covered each topic comprehensively.
