I think this might be working
« on: December 23, 2021, 10:23:54 AM »
At the risk of jinxing myself, I might have found something that works. The question is, how to get people to visit my website and therefore buy my books. I decided to put chapter 1 and 2 of my work in process on my website and put a post about them on Facebook. Most of my FB friends have been with me for years, so I was surprised when there were extra hits on my website. Of course, I can't link the hits to sales. Each day I got around 10 to 15 new visitors.

Ten years ago, I wrote ANNA and found a website that was looking for free content. I put her story on that website and started adding new stories on my website. By the time Amazon started taking ebook submissions, I was getting 10.000 hits on my site a month. That host website is still there, but they let readers rate the books and when mine were bestsellers, I started getting lots of 1 star ratings - I suspect it was the competition.

The idea that people will read on a website may not be dead after all. The website I have automatically adjust for iphone, tablets, and computer. I assume other websites do also.

I posted chapter 3 of The Last Wagon on my website yesterday. The hits on my website continue to increase and impress me, but I can't prove it's generating sales of my other books. Sales on D2D which includes Apple, Nook, and Kobo, etc., have increased, but Amazon is still practically flatlined. If I remember correctly, that's normal during the holidays. Hopefully, those will improve as we go into the new year.

There are people who would rather wait until the whole book is finished and they have said so. Still, the intent is to get people to go to my website where they are exposed to the other 60 books I've written. It's a trick - it's a scam, but it seems to be working. Off I go to write chapter 4.

The good news? It isn't costing me a dime.
