I'd like to try having AI write ad copy for me. Anybody know of a specific how-to tutorial to do that?

Well, it reads content-free.  If you take a movie trailer as a model, a trailer may offer the same flash and bang but at least it touches on the characters and points toward the shocking problem.  Beginning to appear you must work as hard to get AI to produce appealing ad text as you would writing it yourself.

Emphasis added. Okay... This will probably start another digital fight... 

I am not a believer in AI generate text being the "end state" for anything. I am a believer in using emerging technologies to improve process/product/results. The example above is a passage that can be the "baseline" for writing compelling AD Copy in your style.

Yes, but how many hours and revisions will you put in to get to that point? I don't think it's a solution, but it's a good base. I agree it must be tailored to fit the m/c and the plot, but that's a matter of tweaking. AI has already put in the hard work.

I just watched a marketing video for an AI training course.
I was impressed with the output from AI to prompts for loglines, facebook ads, blurbs, etc.
I think AI is a wonderful tool for writers to help with the editing and marketing side of writing. And even plotting, but most of the plot side were "low hanging fruit" suggestions. I would add more unexpected twists to the scenes AI produced, to get more original plots.

Yes, as others have noted, the ad copy is certainly generic. How could it be anything else, given the way it was produced. But I could easily see ways in which details could be added to make it more specific to the book.

I find it very difficult to write generic ad copy, hence what I perceive would be the value of AI writing it for me. Then I add details. Or something.

I see no point in getting "AI" to do anything which one then has to spend as much or more time fixing as it would take to get the product to begin with. I'm not great at doing descriptions, but the provided example looks like trash to me.

Although one of my sons said his girlfriend got a really good resume from Chatgpt. It must have been usable, it got her a damned good job (teaching Spanish in our local area to a well-known charity's managers).

AI is a tool. Like any other, you need to know what you're expecting it to do - what the end goal is. The more narrowly you can focus the parameters (prompt), the better your results will be.

I know everyone is obsessed with Chat GPT but Sudowrite is AMAZING. It specializes in fiction, etc. If you haven't tried it out, you might want to. There is a free trial and the pricing is pretty good IMO. If you ever need to upgrade you can pause the subscription and use it as needed. You pay monthly. I am playing around with the free version.

I know everyone is not on FB but as I posted before, a great place for authors to learn EVERYTHING about AI and certain tools is AI for Writers on FB.
