If you want to watch an alternative, I recommend The Crossing.

I took a look at the trailer and The Flag episode (is it an episode?). Some of it looked good, some of it looked meh and some of it looked like AI - but, the bigger issue appears to be the filmmaking itself. The revolutionary war was epic. Five to eight seconds clips are fine, but not really epic. It feels more like a commercial than a docudrama. The pacing is off, as well. It feels anxiety-inducingly rushed.

With that said, I don't think AI is the problem here.

What I'm not watching is this - seeing the first two minutes was too much already:

Requiem for a film-maker: Darren Aronofsk's AI revolutionary war series is a horror
Guardian   2 Feb 2026

"...On This Day . . . 1776 is a series of short videos depicting America's revolutionary war. What makes On This Day notable is that it was made by Darren Aronofsky's studio Primordial Soup. What also makes it interesting is that it was created with AI. The third thing that makes it interesting is that it is terrible..It is as ugly as sin...[and] looks like it was shooting for photorealism, but then either chickened out or blew up along the way....like so much generative AI at the moment, an awful lot of the episode consists of shots where we see the characters from behind....because the back of an AI-generated head is far less likely to send people into screaming fits of trauma than an AI-generated face...[with] the uncanny dead eyes of people ripped out of The Polar Express...the whole thing still looks like a mangled cross between an animatronic sex toy convention and those old Taiwanese news cartoons...On This Day . . . 1776 is genuinely very horrible to watch, and everybody involved should be ashamed...."

Catching up on all the series of Clarkson's Farm, which is of special interest because it's filmed in my other half's home town (home village?) and we have great fun spotting the locations and familiar faces. Someone said this series did more to highlight the problems faced by British farmers than any official studies could ever do. And it's funny.

After my abandonment of Andor, I have turned to The Mandalorian. It's been fun so far.

I had written a historical novel partly set in Hastings but I could never manage to get there and see it so I was interested in belatedly catching glimpses of the beach and surrounding countryside.

Almost forgot Foyle's War.  I wish I'd stopped at the end of WW2 and skipped the cold war.  He's great, but the stories are a little darker.
...had to give up on the Cold War episodes as I didn't like them. Not sure if it was because of the spies or the change of location from Hastings to London, or whether I just needed a change of viewing!

Fan of Foyle's War and his post-war.  Spent a month in Hastings earlier this year and can understand why Foyle fled to London - Hastings is now as it was then beaten up and rundown.  But St Leonards-on-Sea a pleasant stroll away is charming and its shingle beach more inviting, tho' unsure crooks allowed Foyle much beach time.  Reminded me never to look behind what the camera lets me see.  :icon_eek:

I hadn't realised until recently that Foyle's War continued past the end of the war. I hadn't watched it regularly and had only caught a few random episodes when it was first shown, but during my convaleacence last year I tried to watch the whole thing on Netflix but had to give up on the Cold War episodes as I didn't like them. Not sure if it was because of the spies or the change of location from Hastings to London, or whether I just needed a change of viewing!

My Life is Murder is really good.  Have to sign up again to see the new season!

Recipes for Love and Murder is good, Harry Wild too...and of course Miss Fisher.  :cheers
