Title: What's happening in Google Books?
Post by: guest819 on November 06, 2018, 07:13:35 AM
Whilst Amazon seems to be having problems with ABs it looks as if Google isn't having a clear run of things in the resultant confusion. In fact, things look downright weird from here.

Normally, Google has a good run of books, at least 40 rows in SF, then slightly less in General, Space Opera, Military with the others being empty and will cause a 404 error. The books are pretty reliably SF/F, then yesterday the book count dropped to 17 rows per genre (in SF, I didn't look elsewhere) but importantly the rows are filled with odd selections of genres, not the expected sets.

the picture shows what I mean, Erotica has infiltrated the SFF genre

That's weird, but I'm also seeing similar things. I've never been very clear on how Google decides to show things, so I just thought they were more messed up than usual. Honestly, right now it looks like when you browse, it just shows random books that have nothing to do with the genre tags.
