Hi,
My name is Cathy and I’m an editor. Though I’m new on KBoards, I’ve been working offline writing and editing both fiction and non-fiction. My experience ranges from structural editing, beta-reading, copy/line editing and proofreading. I have no genre preferences so don’t worry just send your work and I’ll see what I can do with it.
Since I’m new to Writer Sanctum, I am offering free proof-reading to the first 3 people who contact me to help build my portfolio. My first condition is that the work should be less than 40k words and the second condition is that you leave a review here after the work is done. Note that if your book is longer than 40k, you can send those first 40k words and if you like you can contract me to edit the rest.
My offer services and pricing are:
Beta-Reading: $0.0005 per word (That means for 60k words you’ll pay $30)
Proof-reading: $0.001 per word (That means for 60k words you’ll pay $60)
Copy-editing: $0.005 per word (That means for 60k words you’ll pay $300)
Substantive/Structural Editing: $0.008 (That means for 60k words you’ll pay $480)
*If you contract 2 or more services you get 20% discount on your bill
Delivery time is 5-10 days depending on the number of words.
NOTE: Even if you miss the free proof-reading offer, you’ll still get a 10% discount on your first book with me.
These prices are reduced as compared to what I normally charge.

Yes I do need immediate orders since the offer is limited. Although once you are done you can always get the 10% discount.

Okay, I just got back my 37K words from Cathy and I can say I'm happy with her work. Just as with any proofreader, I didn't agree with everything she found and corrected, but I would say I made changes based on about 95% of what she said.
One thing I will point out is she seems to be an advocate of the Oxford comma, which I am not. But, other than that, her review of my work was spot on.

Cathy proofread the first 40,000 words of my novel. This novel has already been edited by various people, so I was surprised to find Cathy still found errors. She pointed out a few missing words and several misplaced commas. I’m glad I got her fresh pair of eyes on it.
