Celebrated by Scots around the world, this is the birthday of Scotland's Bard.

I can put Caledonia on a loop and listen to it all day long. Dougie MacLean is the first person I think of when I think of Scotland (well, after Sir. Sean Connery).
Many happy returns Mr. MacLean.

*smiles* The birthday is Robert Burns' but I have no doubt that Dougie is celebrating it. Sorry I didn't make it clear that Dougie is singing one of Burns' songs, which I happen to consider the best version of it ever done. Perhaps it says something about Scotland that one of its most iconic celebrations is the birthday of a poet.
I agree about Caledonia. While Dougie is not considered 'Scotland's bard' I think the song may someday be Scotland's national anthem.

You might like this one too (may have to edit this post as not sure about link).

Indeed that is a great Burns poem and a fantastic performance. Thanks for posting it.
That is the Scottish Parliament where he was performing during the 2004 opening ceremony.
Speaking of other great Burns poems, here another favorite.

And that's the reason I'll likely keep my stories on this side of the pond. :icon_redface:
I don't know why I didn't think of Robert Burns. I've heard of him referred to as the Scottish Bard... But dangit, with youtube these days, I thought the baton had been handed off to Dougie. :icon_rofl:
oh, well... :icon_lol2:

No worries. One day Dougie may have that honour as well.

And slightly off-topic for Burns Night but here is Dougie singing his iconic song:
Caledonia.
For those of you so deprived as not to have heard it. grint
(Autocorrect insists that should be depraved. 🤔)
