Amazon is closing pop-up stores and opening more book stores.

Ah, if only I thought that would be much help to indies aside from the very top sellers.
Given that Amazon "curation" seems to involve looking at the star rating, I'm pretty sure opening a lot of bookstores would result in making the review frenzy even more intense. Sigh!

I've only visited one Amazon store, but there wasn't a single indie represented that I could see. There weren't even any Amazon press books, like 47North. All trad pub. It really was a very limited selection, as all books had to be face out to maximize exposure. Which, sort of ironically, made it just about the opposite of shopping the online store. Very easy to browse, but not much selection.

I've heard about the books facing out. Yeah, that shows off the covers, but I'd always prefer more stock to getting a front-on view of the covers.
It surprises me they don't take the opportunity to showcase Amazon imprint books. Considering those will never be shelved at Barnes and Noble, that would seem a natural thing to do.
