Mine don't qualify, because I still have the first books permafree, but this is an interesting one. Would love to hear how it does if someone gets it.
This sale is a little different than our usual monthly 40% off sale. We will be featuring series only, and only 15 series will be chosen. When submitting, please enter all the titles in a single series. Only one series can be submitted per author. Keep in mind that if any titles in the series have been accepted into another Kobo promo, you may be blocked from submitting that title (this is a limitation of our promo tool). All genres welcome. No pre-orders or free titles (which means any series with a free first book cannot be submitted).

I'm trying not to read too much into it, but, hey that's what I do. Read too much into stuff. I figure all of the platforms/distributors are at best going to start discouraging free eventually.

They can't offer a 40% discount and set the book free at the same time, so of course if the book is already in a free promo, it can't be accepted.
Can anyone explain this part: "When submitting, please enter all the titles in a single series." Do they mean we have to enter each book separately or are we supposed to be able to select more books at once? :icon_think:

The most recent Kobo 40% off VIP promo has been the most successful one for me yet. June is already my best month ever at Kobo and it's only two days old. And one of the reason it went so well is that I had people buy entire series, even if not all books were included in the promo.
I'll definitely apply for the series promotion, once the 40% off sale runs out and I can submit all my books again.

Huh, I never thought of putting books 2 and 3 in the 40% off promo. Just never occurred to me. Thanks Cora!
