Great opportunity for list-building with reader magnets. Or sell-through from perma-free first-in-series/prequel stories.

Even when I've done a BB freebie on a first in series, I've never done anything there. Totally dead. But I am going to go celebrate this month's six bucks with a latte. :icon_rofl:

Do you have keywords in the google play description field? (Don't go overboard, but you are allowed some.)
I average maybe 40 freebies a day across 8 shorts, and that's jumped to 100 per day now I have my two perma-free novels out there.
Might be related to genre, though?

I will double check to be sure I have keywords. Their interface is so bad, it's possible I might have missed where to put them. (How can Google have such a bad interface?)
Yes, it may well be genre though.
ETA: No, I don't have keywords because I don't see anywhere to add them. IS there somewhere to add keywords? I see where to list genres and that's all.

There's nowhere to put them, you just type "Keywords: z, t, s, f, etc" at the bottom of the description.
Add too many, and they'll remove your book to check it over.

Yes, have to add them into the description. I'm guessing this is why many people still put them into Amazon's description area, just copy/paste from Google Play. You'd think Google would be better than this, but I don't think they care much about books. I never could get mine to go on sale there.

Google is great for setting up price matching with Amazon though. They drop the price instantly, and you can get a store page URL for any country you want.

After having my books on Google Play for almost a year, I just made my first sales there in May -- three whole books! I hated their interface, so I was happy to hand it all over to D2D, and ironically (maybe not), that's when the sales occurred.

Do you mean, I could go into the US site, or wherever, and check the prices of my books (I'm in the UK)? How do you do that?

Just add &gl= (plus a 2 letter country code) to the end of your regular google play store page URL.
e.g. us, ca, au and so on.
You should see the local price in that country. And that's the URL you can share with KDP. (The only difference is the 2-letter country code, so it's easy to copy and paste for each store when emailing them to price match.)
