Since April I've had at least a few page reads every day, and the occasional sale, but I've had nothing for five days :icon_sad:. Seems a bit odd that there's been a sudden halt in page reads. Anyone else noticed this?

Yes. I was having quite a good spell of page reads in a minnowy kind of way, but they stopped in their tracks a few days ago.

If it's happening to others then let's hope it's some sort of reporting glitch that will eventually sort itself out :icon_rolleyes:

Five days? I've had nothing for five months. Amazon really needs to fix this problem.

Last month was one of my best months in terms of Amazon Ads to royalties. This month is shaping up to be one of my worst in the last two years. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the little rug rats going back to school.

Yes, I've been thinking it's something like that. I only have a couple of things in KU so I don't know if this just happens from time to time.

Glad someone else noticed a change. I've gone from tens of thousands of page reads to a few thousand per day despite no change in sales. Sales have actually been great for me lately. I'm in the middle of running a promo for one of my books right now, and despite selling a few dozen copies today and having a great ranking it has 0 page reads so far. That's unheard of for this book even on a slow day.
The change seemed to happen for me from August 7 to August 8 in case anyone wants to compare. Sales have stayed steady but page reads were halved. Hopefully this is another glitch in the system that they'll fix by end of month.

I'm thinking mine is just the opposite. I pulled all of my ebooks out of wide at the end of last month and put them back into KU. And my increase in page reads seems to have cannibalized my sales. I'll test that in three months when they all expire from their 90-day stint in KU. I'll let them fall out of KU for a short time, maybe a month or so and see if my sales go back up.

I've gotten a few sales today, but my page reads have been stuck at 159 all day. I'm hoping it is just a glitch too.

I'm hoping, too, because I'm getting ready to put a few titles back into KU.

I cant say I've noticed any difference.
My sales are like a metronome, but reads have been reasonably consistent lately.
Not doing any ads or promos either, so this is generic activity.

Mine started ticking up about an hour ago. Maybe it was football!

My page reads stopped on August 14th and I hadn't had any up until August 18th. Shortly after I posted this topic I suddenly got 41 page reads (maybe it was sympathy page reads Grin ) On checking today I had 141 page reads yesterday - 18th, and I've had 16 today. Perhaps the post and replies woke something up grint.

That's when I saw mine drop, too. :icon_sad:

How long have you gone without ads or other promos? My last release was March 13, '19. I stopped my AMS ads on July 24 to see where I would land rank-wise organically, but don't know how long I should give it before declaring "these are my rankings with no promotion".

I stopped sometime during April. The ads seemed ineffective for that book, so I stopped. The next book I did none at all, and it did just as well. Same with the one after.

I had absolutely no reads from about 16th to 19th and now they've started again (I think!). But in the kind of numbers I get, that could just be due to normal fluctuations.

Over the years, I've seen many times when the reports got messed up for some reason or another. It used to slow on the 20th when they send out those useless emails, and then at the end of the month when they made payments. A lot of that has been resolved. However, when they have prime sale, or some big promotion, things still slow down. I remember when Lady Gaga gave a new release away. It took days to get our reports back to normal. That was years ago.
-
I had 4 days with zero page reads, then 3 days with a few, and now 2 days with zero again *sigh*

My reads are better than usual lately, but sales have been up and down. They seem to come in batches, so I wonder if there's a change in processing. It's possible.
I'm wondering if this is related to the site glitches that keep being reported. There must be some software tweaking going on behind the scenes. They've had repeated issues with display issues on book pages that come and go.
We should keep an eye on the monthly page reads reports. If it goes down substantially, then maybe they've figured out how to eliminate the bot farm reads before they hit our reports. Otherwise, it's probably just the summer slump for some.

Figured I'd post again with an update. Exactly one month ago I posted that sales remained consistent but page reads dropped dramatically. Sales have continued to be great, but starting on September 17, my page reads seem to be bouncing back to normal levels. Not the levels they were at during the summer, but I don't expect that considering summer months are among the best-performing for me. September 17, 18, and now today the 19th have shown good consistent results. Hopefully this will continue. Anyone else notice an uptick?
Also, I should note that I can't tell if this is Amazon catching up or them reporting current reads. With how sporadically rankings update recently, it's impossible to tell if it coincides.
