I'm using Microsoft Outlook 2010 and keep my emails in lots of folders. I backup my Word files on separate memory sticks as well as backing up the entire computer. But I want to back up the emails separately. Is there any way to do that? :icon_rolleyes:

Back up your email
Select File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
Select Export to a file, and then select Next.
Select Outlook Data File (.pst), and select Next.
Select the mail folder you want to back up and select Next.
Choose a location and name for your backup file, and then select Finish.
Complete rundown is here

If you don't delete them, they will be available forever.
I have over 3,000 emails across 5 years.
They are still there when I open my mail box.
The only ones that get deleted are emails no longer needed, and spam.
To access specific email, I just search for key words, such as "book cover" and I get all the mail on book covers.

Just a warning. I thought I had backed up the emails from my Hotmail account that I'd had for twenty years and so went ahead and deleted the older emails because I had the backup file. Turns out it only downloaded the last year or two of emails and I lost everything from before then when I did that. So make sure when you do the backup that it works on ALL emails not just a certain subset.

I have my emails go to my phone as well as my computer which I mostly use to read and answer them, save them to files, delete them, etc. A couple of times an important email has disappeared from my computer and then I remember my phone and there it is.

Be careful, depending on your settings and especially if it's an IMAP account. Depending on the configuration, if they are deleted from one device, they are deleted from the server and all devices.

You're right! I just tested it. I guess I've been lucky. Am I allowed to swear here?
