Hi all,
I am scheduled for a new release in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if I should do a small amount of advertising with Ams to help with my launch. I will be in KU for the first ninety days. Then I'm going wide. My book is in the mystery/crime genre. I don't have a huge email list or backlist, and from what I have seen, most of the book promotion sites only work with free or .99 books. So, if I don't have any of the promotion sites to work with, it is either Ams or Facebook. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Amazon or Facebook ads or both, depending on your budget. Don't discount it, since you have nothing else to sell. Without some advertising, your book may be invisible. Lots of information available about these ads, much of it free, and some of it inexpensive in ebook form. Check out other threads.

Thanks Lily. I figured that's all I had left. I have a friend who is fairly versed with both and he said he would help me. Guess I'll have to take him up on his offer!

Sorry I misread. If it's your second novel and they're the same genre, there might be some value in discounting. But my first instinct is to try to sell each one without discounting.

Thanks. I should have been more clear. They are not of the same genre, and I don't think the first book will resonate with the readers of my new release. I guess I'll eventually find out. But my strategy is to launch at full price for a few weeks then do a discount promotion and a Countdown deal.

My book that launched in Sept, I only used AMS, I don't have a mailing list, or Facebook. I did AMS for almost two months in preorder and was surprised to get some orders even hardcovers! Since the launch it's been two steps forward, one back though. More like two forward, one and a half back. Okay, one and three quarters.

That's still progress!
