Yesterday evening, I updated my Mac operating System to Catalina. I like the new OS, but this morning when I opened Scrivener, it required me to reenter my license number. So I had to search my computer for my license number and the email address (I have several) I used when I purchased it. After 15 minutes, I found the necessary info and reentered the info into Scrivener. Everything is back to normal now.

They had to switch to a new licensing vendor, and it's caused some hiccups:

Scrivener is not the only app having issues. Photoshop, Lightroom, and software used by musicians and DJs have been impacted by Catalina:
Photoshop and Lightroom users should wait before updating to macOS Catalina (https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/8/20905391/apple-macos-catalina-adobe-photoshop-lightroom)
I'm holding off on the upgrade for a few weeks at least to give Apple and developers a chance to address these issues.
