Title: Series page problem
Post by: cecilia_writer on November 25, 2019, 04:03:20 AM
I usually find Amazon will add the next book in a series to the series page without any prompting from me, but (having more or less emerged from NaNoWriMo) I realise they still haven't done so for the 19th in my mystery series. I'd quite like this to be fixed in time for the 20th which I hope to write and publish early next year. Is it worth contacting them or maybe just pretending to update something in my book details to see if that kicks a switch or whatever?

Your experience is different from mine, because I practically always have to nudge them to get them to update the series page. However, when I nudge them, they get it done fast, so I'd recommending a little nudge.

Thanks Bill, I'll try the nudge.

Yep, definitely nudge. I've had to contact them a couple of times about things and it's never been an issue.

The only thing that might be different is if it's a pre-order, as they have in the past not wanted to add those to series pages.

Hope it gets sorted soon for you.

I don't have too many problems with series pages, but they've been terrible at linking ebook and paperback lately.  I don't understand why, because the ebook and paperback are already linked on the KDP dashboard.

An email to support gets it fixed pretty quickly, thank goodness.

That's another one of those strange things I don't understand. When Createspace, a somewhat separate operation, handled paper, it made more sense. But with KDP doing both, it's truly ridiculous that the linking isn't completely automated.

I had to contact them.   If you are in the US you can ask them to call you immediately and it should take two minutes over the phone (have the ASIN numbers handy) versus a couple of days of emails back and forth.  Good luck.
