Title: KU sales down
Post by: Marti Talbott on March 15, 2020, 05:45:56 AM
Mine are in the tank and so are sales. (31 reads today so far. This can't be right.)

Looks like I picked the wrong week to release a new book. More new sales lately on Apple than on Amazon not counting the pre-orders.

My KU reads are down as well. Sales change a lot so hard to tell. But KU is usually fairly constant.

One comment I'd make based on experience and people saying they are making their books free for the crisis, is when you make a book free, it can flatline in KU as a result.

Its like people are using the price to gauge quality of a KU book, and free ones are being bypassed.

Might not be the case for everyone, but certainly was the last time I reduced a 4.99 book to free. Read died totally.

I decided not to discount mine. They're pretty low at $2.99 and $3.99 as it is.

Sorry to hear this, Marti.

I am not as experienced as you, but I always find some weirdness around the time Amazon is crunching the numbers for the KU payout - huge delays in the page reads being recorded, for example.  I'm also in the UK, and KU runs on US time, so that doesn't help.

Hope sales have picked up for you.

They are picking up this morning. You're right, I forgot about the mid-month slump.

Good. Sales are getting better too. Of course, more than three sales excites me these days. grint
