There's a thread about this, but when I started to reply it warned the thread was too old. So, I thought I'd start a new one.
I've been trying to figure out how to use Pinterest without paying for the advertising. The one thing I like about Pinterest is the images stay around a lot longer than the ones in my Facebook feed.
Has anyone else tried Pinterest? I think the only way this will work is to put up lots of attractive images and link them back to my books. I don't know how successful this will be...but at least my page is prettier!

can you post the link?

Thank you, Maggie Ann! I've been taking a Pinterest class with some other authors. I can give you a few tips if you like. The main thing is linking your website and creating "rich" pins...so you can add extra info to your pins. And you can create a business account without having to pay for advertising. :dog1:

Your pins are pretty. I took a Pinterest class a while back but balked at linking to my Facebook account. Too much sharing. So I seldom go back to it. I think you have to be the kind of person who enjoys making pins to use it effectively, just as some people enjoy uploading photos to Instagram. As far as selling books goes, it's all grist for the mill. Maybe it helps, and maybe it doesn't, which is why most of us use only the social media we enjoy messing with.

Thank you, Lily! I didn't link my Facebook page...just my website, so I could add the link to my pins. :smilie_zauber:

I have found a better return on add dollars with Pinterest than AMS. Their site for adds is not friendly, but I finally made it work.

I think Pinterest is working. Too soon to tell for sure, but I've had clicks to my website and I am selling more fairytales...which is where most of the Pinterest people end up. I like that it's free, since I have more time than money right now.

I've started really noticing when authors/pinners have animated book covers or animated pins on Pinterest now. It does get a bit more attention when scrolling thru it. I think Pinterest ads with animated covers could be a good option to try. Would be amazing if it can become the next platform to advertise on for indies.
Your profile looks well, hope that organic reach will work well. There sure are readers on it.

Great to hear! Are they going to your website or Amazon?
Been thinking about marketing on Pinterest more myself. Good to see it working for more people. Encouraging. :)

Mostly my website, so I can keep track of them.

I started using pinterest. I tried one ad, and I like it a lot in terms of clicks and exposure.
I also realized it's a perfect place to keep references and images. I often order illustration and need to send some inspirations for clothes, so I have to search... Now, if I see something I like, I can pin it. If ever I need to order illustration, I already have the ideas. I only just started, though, but I think it can be cool for inspiration and, again, as a place to save images.
I guess I could also do moodboards for new books... So many cool things. I wish I had started using it earlier.

Smart! How are they doing on the website? It seems like most of them would not stick around too long but with so much volume possible it can be still worth it. Or are they sticking around well?
