I got a letter from KDP today:
We found that one or more books you've published don’t meet the KDP Select content guidelines. Books enrolled in KDP Select must be exclusive to Amazon in digital format during the entirety of their enrollment in the program.
<Book Title Redacted> is available on: <Google Link to Book> In order for any book of yours to remain in the KDP Select program, we'll need you to ensure that it is exclusive to Amazon within five days from the date of this email. If, after this five-day period, your book(s) is still not exclusive to Amazon, it will remain for sale on Amazon but will be removed from KDP Select. Upon its removal, your book(s) will no longer be eligible to earn a share of the KDP Select fund and any scheduled Kindle Countdown Deals or free promotions will be canceled.
Please note that continued violation of the program’s exclusivity requirement may result in the additional loss of KDP Select benefits, including the KDP Select All Stars Bonus, participation in Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library (KOLL). To ensure KDP Select benefits are not revoked, please be sure that all of your KDP Select-enrolled books are exclusive to Amazon in digital format at the time of enrollment.
The kicker: This book is NOT in KDP Select and hasn't been for several weeks.

I responded to let KDP know that this book is not currently in KDP Select.
Their response:
Hello,
Thank you for your message.
We appreciate you taking the time to ensure your book(s) meets the requirements for KDP Select.
Best regards,
Amazon KDP

All's well that ends well, I guess. :icon_eek:
Seriously, glad you got it sorted out.

The last time I heard this one it turned out the book was still in Select. The author had removed the tick to renew, but somehow it got replaced, and the book had renewed.
Before putting a book up wide after coming ut of Select, its a good idea to double check it IS out of select.
If it still is in there, you email and ask for it to be removed asap, wait for it to come out, then go wide.
Better safe than sorry.
OP, better double check.

The first thing I did was check. It is not in Select.

So... the criteria for a book in Select is not to be in Select. :icon_rolleyes:
(Off to look for for a SMH emoji)

Another instance of auto-email going awry?

Yeah, I think that's the case.

Though it's not surprising that Amazon screws up, I can't imagine how alarming this must have been for you. I hope it is and remains resolved.
It's scary how much power to control an individual's livelihood is in the hands of individuals at Amazon that I'm not completely convinced are aware of the details and how things work. Or even if they do.
