Here we have fire traveling underground via the roots.
The fire is now under control and confined to a third of an acre, fire officials say. But the blaze is burning underground, and has therefore been difficult to snuff.
I realize a third of an acre isn't much relatively speaking, but I find the idea of it traveling underground terrifying. No underground gas pipes in the area, thankfully.

In other news a sink in one of our elementary schools exploded on Monday so the bathrooms were out of commission. My friend's kid asked the teacher what happened and the reply was "2020".

That sounds like an accurate answer. You're right. Fire underground sounds...very 2020. 🤦♀️
No chance of schools here opening any time soon. It's all distance learning.
