Title: Google Play promo codes
Post by: Marti Talbott on October 27, 2020, 02:16:54 AM
I haven't actually looked into this and how it works, but here's the email.

Dear Partner,

We’re launching a new marketing tool for publishers: promo code campaigns. Promo code campaigns can be used to offer select customers a free or discounted book without lowering your book’s list price in the store.

With promo codes, you can:

Offer discounts to customers in 75+ countries
Distribute free books to generate buzz or reviews
Create deals to integrate with marketing campaigns or event promotions
With promo code campaigns, you have three different discount options:

Free allows customers to redeem the book at no cost
Percentage off (ebooks only) allows customers to receive a percentage discount off the book’s list price.
Fixed price promotion allows customers to purchase the book for a lower fixed price.
After creating a promo code campaign, you can share the promotion with your customers via a code and hyperlink (URL) to the Play Store, where they can redeem the code. You can create up to 5,000 codes per campaign and up to 3 promo code campaigns per month.

Create a promo code campaign
For a step-by-step guide to creating a promo code campaign, see the Help Center.

Thanks for being a part of our publishing community.

If I can get the mental bandwidth together, I might try this. I never sell anything on Google Play. Maybe somebody on my mailing list buys from them.

I've been thinking about checking into it too. It sounds like a good way to run a promotion without Amazon price matching. Kobo will do that too, but Kobo does very little for my sales, so I don't bother with them much.

I'm going to try one of these codes just to see what happens. I'm sending it to my email list and will let you know if it's worth the trouble.

Google Play 50% off discount code: JSVSETYKQ44XP
 :link https://play.google.com/store?code=JSVSETYKQ44XP

         Valid: November 6 - 10
Regularly $9.99 now only $4.99 U.S.

       Seattle Quake 9.2
They knew it could happen, they just didn't think it would happen to them!

The sale began yesterday and today my sales went up by $20. Can't tell if it's from the promo yet, but it's a good sign. My Google Play sales rarely jump up by that much.

Well, I didn't end up with any sales on this promo. Maybe it was the wrong book or maybe I should have made it free. I might try again later.
