Even though my first book hasn't been released on amazon yet, i've been trying my hand at building a reader base both on facebook and book funnel.
How do you know a cover and blurb are effect or not?
So far on book funnel i have 388 view, 203 claims and 52 conversions. What are conversions?
On facebook I have two main posts I am sharing for the whole seven touch thing.
Post 1 --- 72shares 958people reached 103likes/comments and 15 clicks. 2 of the clicks claimed a copy of the book.
Post 2 --- 125shares 1339people reached 134likes/comments and 15 clicks. 13 of the clicks claimed a copy
I know this is for a free book but how do you use this to evaluate effectiveness?

If you want to use this data, you need to compare it to something.
BookFunnel and Facebook will not give you clean tests, as their visibility algos will skew your results. If these are your only tools, you will have a hard time getting good data. But you can test one cover against another, and see which gets more shares/likes or more downloads on BookFunnel.
If the book is doing well on BookFunnel, then there is probably something effective about the cover and blurb. It's not really data, but it's a good sign.

I usually test this after the book is published (learn as we go) but I use Fussy Librarian. I can tell a lot about the cover and blurb by how many free downloads I get for the day. Might not work for everyone, but it's been a good test for me. :dog1:

Do you have a big audience yet on Facebook? I think if you're using book funnel, you're probably trying to build an audience for newsletters (??), so you can't use that. Through social media or your newsletter you could just ask readers to do you the favor and send out a vote. You could do this with a launch announcement. Or, you could post it to our writer's group. Or PM us and ask our opinion.
Personally, I occasionally rely on editors for blurbs or friends/family for covers.

no newsletter youre right thats what book funnel is for
no real social media yet still working on that. mostly working on sending all people over to my reader magnet.
I was kinda hoping there was a good rule of thumb like for AMS 1000 view 1 click 10clicks 1sale is a good ad.
