Haven't seen or heard anyone talking about that yet. One of the ads that popped up on my sub. It had a book trailer you could play. Just posting for general interest.

Link?

I've advertised on reddit. If they have a sub reddit for your genre you can advertise only to that sub reddit. The problem is they changed their fee structure and if I remember right the lowest cost clicks you can get is .20. Once the price went up it didn't seem worth the cost. It might be different now though since I haven't checked it in over a year.

I have no idea how it works, but I can't see how a sub reddit about weight managementish stuff is related to a fantasy book. So maybe they opened it up for more stuff?
RC, I'll see if I can PM you a link to the subreddit that shows it, I didn't want to click on it and cost the guy a click.
No, I'm getting different ads now, but I'll PM you the guy's books.

I tried advertising on Reddit with a similar experience to Lu. Cost became non-viable. Also, the subreddit admins are persnickety. They often reject ads for inane reasons. I gave up on Reddit over a year ago.

You can advertise to interests like entertainment or video games. Also you can target specific sub reddits. So, I'm guessing the ad was targeted at some interest they thought would match well with fantasy books.

I've advertised on Reddit now and then. You can set it to keywords or subreddits (such as horror as well as all the horror subreddits, etc.) or you can go with a wide range. Since you pay per click, some people set it to "all subreddits" and just see who clicks.
It was really effective until they raised their rates, then I stopped. I haven't tried it in a year, though. Maybe it's still a viable alternative. I'll take a peek at it again this week.
