Title: There is life in Hoopla after all

D2D started offering distribution to Hoopla, a library service, at least a year ago, though I never made any sales there. Besides, my books apparently weren't even live on Hoopla.

Then in January, I suddenly got a flurry messages telling me that several old books were no live on Hoopla. I didn't think anymore about it, until I got a message from D2D yesterday about 2 Hoopla sales in January. Then today I got a message about 11 Hoopla sales in February. Of course, those are tiny numbers, but there apparently is life in Hoopla after all.

I put Hoopla out of my mind a long time ago, and now I can't even remember what they do.  Is it a subscription service?  How does the money work?   :icon_think:

It's a library service for digital books, movies, etc. Very convenient. I think the author gets some money with each borrow (download). And it works just like regular books because I tried to download a popular book but I have to wait until it's returned electronically.

Cora, it's always great to have new readers and if they like one book, they are more likely to check out your other books.

I make a few dozen bucks a month from Hoopla. It ain't much, but as my grand-pappy used to say, it's better than a kick in the groin.

I think I earned about three dollars or so at Hoopla. Enough for a non-fancy coffee.

-Interesting, because the movies seem to be always available - but then I only use Libby for downloading library books, haven't tried Hoopla for books yet.

Ooops, that book borrowing was on Libby, not Hoopla. But I should try it out.

I get 20-30 borrows off Hoopla every month. I'd get more if it didn't take a year to get books uploaded to them. WHY does it take so long? Anybody know?

I checked on my books, haven't actually had any borrows from Hoopla. Probably because even after nearly two years Hoopla still hasn't accepted Living Sword 1, but they have accepted Living Sword 2 which came later.

I think there is a big pile of books and they just randomly take one off of it every day to approve. That's my theory.
