Title: Facebook ads sales vs pg reads
Post by: idontknowyet on May 21, 2021, 12:17:03 PM
Has anyone else noticed that their facebook ads tend to equate to sales and not as many pg reads. I actually prefer page reads because my read through is better for those than for .99cent books. I have promos scheduled next month and the beginning of july but i was wondering would facebook sales handle a higher price point. say i go back to 3.99. At that rate my ads would be earning me a significant profit.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I rely a lot on Facebook ads, but I never advertise anything for less than full price. I'm advertising a preorder at the minute and it's giving me the itches, because money's going out but none's coming in. I say never, but I did do it once on a trilogy. I put it out for .99 in the hope of getting page reads instead of sales, but it didn't work, just lost me money. I don't think Facebook members in general are that interested in KU subscriptions.

I did a test between Amazon ads and FB ads. When only running FB ads about 65% of revenue came from sales and 35% from page reads. When only running Amazon ads about 65% of revenue came from page reads and 35% from sales. So, you might want to focus on Amazon ads if you want the page reads.

I also did a test for pricing with ads running. At $2.99 I sold about 15% more books than at $5.99 with the same ad spend. I made more money at $5.99 though. I haven't tried 99 cents, however, I'd suggest your set the price to at least $3.99 and probably $4.99. My experience is that there's a little price sensitivity above $4.99, but not that much below.

I haven't been doing much ad spend, but a year or more ago I found the same thing, with more sales on FB ads vs more pagereads on AMS ads. I also found that I got a bunch of KU trial bounties on the FB ads.

When you use an Amazon affiliate account link in your FB ads you get $3 if someone signs up for KU. They might have to stick around for 3 months or something before you get paid, though. I can't remember the exact rules.

Side note: The Amazon affiliate TOS says you can't use affiliate links in ads, but lots of people do it just to track sales from their ads. The risk is losing your affiliate account (not your publisher account).
