I think this belongs in Marketing...
I loaded my books via Draft2Digital into various retail outlets. After checking Apple Books I found the covers images are terrible. They are dark and distorted on every browser and every device. There are lots of threads about the problem but I am unable to find a solution.
Apple Catalog (https://books.apple.com/us/author/r-c-ducantlin/id1418338390#see-all/books)
I have pinged D2D for a resolution but have not heard back. While I wait, this group is always good for "having been there and done that."
Any thoughts?

This has been a problem for a while! Supposedly, it looks better on cell phones...but I wouldn't know.

My covers look bad on Apple too. It's an Apple thing, I think. It's something they should obviously fix.

They darken my covers and put a little crease along the left side, making them look kind of like hardbacks. It's some kind of filter, I assume. It doesn't bother me too much but it's an odd choice.

I checked my Android phone, again. The same, dark and icky.

Dark covers get really dark. Light covers look washed out.

Been a problem for a long time. It's on Apple's end and they don't give a flying **** so I don't bother wasting time worrying about it.

My books all looked okay. I have an iPhone. Does that make a difference in the presentation? If so, it's a deliberate and sneaky way of being competitive with various androids.
