Title: Spam and possible hacker emails with an Amazon.com address
Post by: Jan Hurst-Nicholson on January 11, 2022, 11:41:18 PM
Is anyone else getting suspicious emails from this address? Now getting almost daily and I'm working with my service provider to find out where they are actually coming from. Don't want to block amazon.com in case it blocks genuine emails.  :icon_rolleyes:

Nothing trustworthy about that one.  :icon_mrgreen:

What happens if you try to reply to it? What email address is used then?

I daren't open it or reply in case something dreadful happens  :icon_rolleyes:. My service provider is looking into tracing it. Having the Amazon address on it I wondered if other Amazon users had also received these emails. I've had quite a number. Fortunately I only open emails on my computer where I can see the full name and address, which I can't do on my phone.

Good move.

This sounds like a spoofed address (more info on spoofing here (https://www.proofpoint.com/us/threat-reference/email-spoofing)).

Ultimately, emails from Amazon typically regard the same few things (order confirmations, delivery confirmations, AMS invoices, etc.). An email with the subject "Last call for delivery: Wanted AND needed_gifts_" should be trashed without opening.

Mouse over the unsubscribe link at the bottom.  Grin

That tells you where it came from, and it wasn't Amazon.

I did that and sent it to my service provider who said it wasn't enough to do a complete trace. I now have to send the headers.  :icon_rolleyes:

I get almost daily 'fake' amazon and paypal emails. It's a pain but i doubt anyone will ever bother to stop them. Just like the spam phone calls. Let me tell you rocket mortgage calls 6-8x a day. I'm so thinking about suing for harassment. I know finding these people are like playing wackamole, but seriously the insanity needs to stop.
