Personally, I'm against this merger because it lessens competition in the book world, though as a self publisher of my own e-books, it doesn't directly impact me. However, the author of this article makes a good point in that it may/will impact others substantially, which is another reason why I hope this merger fails!

If they're too stupid to publish the books people want to buy, some other publisher will do so and reap the profits.
