I belong to the camp that believes AI could/does pose an existential risk to humanity.

Remember when cults like Heaven's Gate and Jonestown, while crazy and self-destructive, were at least well-mannered enough to keep their destruction to themselves rather than trying to force the rest of us to share in it?
