Title: Audiobook publishing slowdown affecting access to eBook. WTF?
Post by: TimothyEllis on November 11, 2025, 11:18:25 AM
My weekend release is now in lockdown still because of the audiobook.

The virtual voice audio is taking days to publish where it used to take hours, and the eBook is locked until it does.

So I've got several goofs that need to be fixed before someone reports them, and no access to the book at all to do that.

What's going on with the audiobooks now?

They used to publish in 6-8 hours. This one is now into it's 3rd day.

And I don't recall the eBook being locked while the audio published before either.

Anyone know what's going on?

I'm wondering if I should report it as a bug or not.

I'd report and contact Amazon if it's been 3 days.

I wonder if you could stop the audio release for now? Then publish the ebook and re-release the audiobook later? Problem with that is you don't know for sure what the system will do with that. Any change could make it worse.

I have reported it now.

The whole book is locked up, so there is nothing that can be accessed now until the audiobook publishes.

Next time, I'm going to delay doing the audiobook until after the initial goof reports are in.

No response from KDP, but the book is accessible now, finally.

The Audio is still not published, so there must be some slowdown in them now. Maybe from the Audible end? Just guessing.

Update.

I was finally able to update the eBook with the Audio still publishing.

I just got the emails saying the eBook had been published, and the Audiobook was ready to be updated. But the Audiobook was still showing 'publishing'.

So I updated the Audiobook anyway, and resubmitted.

Now the eBook is locked out again.

New change to the submission check list. The audiobook gets done last now, after waiting a few days for goofs to be reported.
