Title: Using comparable-specific Twitter hashtags
Post by: Tom Wood on October 17, 2018, 10:19:36 AM
I see that a couple of my comparables have active Twitter hashtags - #warcross and #readyplayerone

Am I likely to annoy those fans by comparing my books to the thing they love so much?

Anyone use Twitter hashtags to good effect?

Yes, you will annoy fans of big authors by slapping their hashtags alongside links to your work.

Actually, "buy my book!" on twitter, in general, will get you ignored fast.

Follow people you like. Post about things you like. Be real. It's the only way to avoid coming across as just one more hand reaching for people's pockets.

You're right, bad idea on my part.

I think that Sam Sykes is the only one that can get away with that.
