How to get That for your publishing company?
« on: December 08, 2021, 06:26:38 AM »
I have long wondered how come that some publishing companies have this "Sold by+their name" addition while with other publishing companies it is still "Sold by Amazon.com Services LLC."

At first I thought that this "Sold by" can be given only to Big Names, but then I saw a few relatively unknown publishers, like this one.

Does anyone know the way for a publishing company to get this "Sold by" thingy?

I can't find a single "sold by" in any searches I just did. In fact, I can't even find that particular book. What browser did you use and which amazon store?

I use Chrome, desktop version. These "Sold by" are seen when you enter the main page of Amazon and choose "Kindle Store."

This is the link https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pushkin&i=digital-text&page=4&qid=1638908509&ref=sr_pg_4

I'm on .com and it shows up:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WCRXGGM/

The "sold by" shows up above the price in the Buy box.

Browser: Firefox.

Okay. I'm seeing it now but on dot CA. Amazon doesn't make it easy when you're in Canada looking at ebooks on dot COM. All my ebooks on dot CA have sold by Amazon.com.ca, Inc.  Which is passing strange because my publishing company is listed as publisher in the product details. Could it be because DeMarque and the others have amazon seller accounts and are moving their product through those rather than KDP?

If it is possible to move ebooks via Amazon seller accounts, I guess, that's the answer. I wonder if it is difficult to get a seller account for ebooks?

Not really difficult, but is it worth the extra expenses and work just to have your own publisher name listed in the sold by tag?

I guess it makes sense if one needs to publish titles by many authors and wants to look like a trad. publisher. It's possible there are other differences apart from "Sold by."

I don't think readers actually notice the "sold by" when it comes to books. I certainly don't and I'm the sort who looks at "sold by" on product pages for non book purchases because it can influence whether or not I get Prime free shipping.

The only thing with that is I don't think you can use KDP to publish the books. You'd have to get them printed elsewhere and then use a seller's account. I might be wrong, but that's my understanding how it works.
