What is an 'Editors Pick'?
« on: November 18, 2021, 10:39:36 AM »
I just saw a grey 'Editor's Pick' tag on a book.

Is this something new?

If so, when did Amazon start having Editors to do picks with?

Or is this purely a Trad thing?

Just curious.
Genres: Space Opera/Fantasy/Cyberpunk, with elements of LitRPG and GameLit, with a touch of the Supernatural. Also Spiritual and Games.

It's been going on forever as far as I know. You can see them here:

Odd.

Because I saw it on a book that isn't selling. The eBook was in the 600k range, and the paperback was in the 3.5mil range.

What's odd about that? Editors often like books that aren't particularly popular with readers.

Why does Amazon even have editors?

Why does Amazon even have editors?

( Sometimes I feel like you're trolling me with these questions.  grint )

Because they publish numerous books and online publications about books and those processes naturally employ editors?

Oh. Yeah. So they do.

I'd forgotten that.

Lotta Apub books are Editor Picks.

Quite the coincidence...

Seriously, though, where are the ethics in publishing? Amazon should not label books from their own imprints as Editor Picks as of their editors are objective observers.

That's exactly how I feel when I see their shenanigans. Don't they already put their foot on the scale more than enough?

That being said, I'd gladly take an apub imprint deal and never whine about them ever again. :-)

As for ethics... that's for us plebes. Heaven forbid your grandma's roommate reviews your book.
